What an incredible night! On May 21st the ‘Village of Sydney’ gathered at the Wentworth Sofitel Hotel in Sydney to celebrate the graduation of the first 22 young Kenyan women supported by Women for Change. Dr Kakenya Ntaiya joined us to share in the achievements of the first group of students to join her girls’ school, Kakenya’s Center for Excellence in 2009.

Our Graduation Gala Evening was so much fun, and we are immensely thankful for everyone who attended. We hope you had fun joining us to celebrate three courageous Sydney graduates – Linet, Sharon & Peyian – and the 19 young women in Kenya. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the power of education during the festivities!

We’d like to take the time to express special gratitude to our sponsors and the individuals who enabled us to hold the Graduation Gala Evening. To our Corporate Sponsors; PwC Australia, Arcadia Pittwater Private Hospital, Western Sydney University, L.E.K. Consulting & Studiosity we are grateful for your commitment to the education of women and the compassion you’ve displayed for the twenty two young women we were celebrating on the night. To our Education Sponsors; UTS: University of Technology Sydney, Western Sydney University, University of Sydney, Campus Living Villages, Urbanest & Iglu Student Accommodation we are grateful for your tireless work in keeping Linet, Sharon & Peyian safe on their journey to change the world.

Thank you to Bruce Stephens, and Diana Kendi Makale and Michael from Kakenya’s Dream for the incredible video compilation. We’re so excited to share this with the world!

Thank you to Samantha Forbes, Miranda Murray and Amber O’Keefe of Ignite Lifestyle for all your hard work in organising this event.

We’re so proud of our graduates, and it warms our hearts to see you support them on their journey too.

Photos of the evening can be viewed here.
