Kenyan Tertiary Education Program

In 2018, Women for Change supported 24 young women to undertake tertiary studies. These women were the first graduates of Dr Kakenya Ntaiya’s school which opened 10 years ago in Kenya.

Since then we have supported a further 2 graduating cohorts of students to complete their tertiary studies at universities across Kenya. In total more than 70 young women have been funded to complete tertiary education. Special support was provided to these students during the Covid-19 pandemic to ensure that students persisted with their studies rather than pregnancy or teen marriage.

In 2022, 19 of the first cohort of girls graduated their tertiary studies and sought employment. Women for Change were absolutely delighted to see these women reach this major milestone.

Women for Change are now widening their focus to include support of tertiary education for disadvantaged girls in India and Nepal.
