Listen: Women for Change’s New Podcast – Be Empowered

In this podcast you will hear how three Maasai students from a tiny village in Kenya have made the extraordinary journey to Australia’s top universities thanks to the generosity of people like you. Women for Change is a group of Australian women who know how education can transform lives and communities and we were determined to support these promising young scholars. Since then we’ve raised funds and gained sponsors to support the founder of the student’s first school for maasai girls, Dr Kakenya Ntaiya, and her vision of a world where girls in Kenya are not married off at 13 and subjected to the Maasai rite of genital mutilation, has instead given girls a chance to get an education and dream of a bigger life for themselves and their communities.

Listen in as three amazing young women tell their story of landing in Australia, navigating basic day to day activities, tap cards, trains, banking systems, microwaves, supermarket trolleys, dealing with the challenges of university life in Australia, how education is changing their lives and how they have now become a role model for young girls in their communities. It’s an inspiring, uplifting tale – and one we are all so very proud of!
